Hi,

Iv been planning on getting a new body for my MIM tele. Was thinking of just buying something natural. Having a quick flick through ebay there seems to be a massive flux in prices. As far as whether its officially fender or not i dont really mind, at the end of the day aren't they all just pieces of wood? (oh i might get slapped for tht!)

Also different wood types, does it make much difference sound wise, or is it more in the pickups?

Has anyone got any suggestions of sites where they have bought quality bodies off before in the uk?

and lastly what size neck fittings am i looking for a MIM neck, i looked on the site but cudn't find it... :-\

thanks for your help

Alex

I suggest buying a genuine Fender body for one reason: so you don't have to worry about questions like this:

Any MIM or MIA Fender Tele body should work perfectly with your Fender neck - given minor tolerances between individual parts, of course.

I've had very good luck mating Fender bodies and necks from different factories and decades. For example, my current Tele has a '00s MIM Nashville body and a '90s MIJ neck. I use genuine Fender parts because I know they will fit. I don't have to worry about drilling or painting or if other Fender parts will fit. And that's why, to me anyway, they're not just "pieces of wood". :)

And, while I know I'm not supporting Fender with my dollars that way, I like to think if I buy a body or neck from one of the professional Fender disassemblers on eBay, that's one more whole Fender he'll have to buy.

Edited to add:

I just saw this other thread. The questions this poster is asking could have been avoided if he'd bought a genuine Fender parts. :)

Just my opinions - not throwing rocks at anyone. We all have our preferences and these are mine. Good luck!

Aftermarket body all the way. Neck pockets are standard as to Tele or Strat. Heels are rounded (strat) or square (tele) 3 X 2-3/16 X 5/8 now a contoured heel on a fender deluxe body causes one hole to be offsett.

Order aftermarket you get what you want. Finish type, color, wood species and quality of such which can vary.
