Hi, I am a American Standard Strat player (2005 Strat) and love it. Would like to add a Tele to my arsonal but funds are low. I know MIM are cheaper but I've also heard they sound great too. Also, I could mod it later if I want. So, what are the differences in the construction of these guitars?
Thx guys

None. They are all made by machines.
If you want to know the exact specs, like kinds of frets, pickups, bridge and etc, check the "specs" of each guitar in the "Products" section on the top of the screen, and have fun 8)

Tele's are great axe. MIM plays darn great. There are differences. My advice is: if you have the money buy the American because it's an American.

If you're low on cash buy the MIM 'cause it's the best price/quality in the market... :P

cheers

I too have an MIA Strat and I just bought a MIM Tele. I`m happy with both and I don`t think you would be disappointed with a guitar MIM. Play one at your music store, thats the best way to see how it is.

I have a MIM Tele and I wouldn't change a thing about it,only the strings.

You may want to consider a Highway 1 Tele. I bought one a month ago and have not put it down. You get an American made guitar, great classic feel and sound for $500 less than an American Standard. I don't see how you can possibly go wrong with this guitar, best of both worlds.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the advice everyone. I too did notice the Highway One that is MIA and price was right. Will try one out soon! I guess what answers I was actually looking for was, is the body or neck wood different, cheaper single coil pickups, cheaper pots, etc. or same parts, just cheaper labor?
Thx again

As far as I know the necks are the same either maple with rosewood or all maple.I'm not sure of the body woods. The pups, well that's very subjective,it seems some people get it into their minds that they're inferior and swap them out without giving them a chance. As I said in my previous post I wouldn't change a thing on my MIM Tele,it sounds great whether it's going through a Vox,Marshall,Fender or little practice amp,it just sings. As for the pots, switches and hardware, after 3 yrs no complaints.

Iceflyer I couldn't agree more. The Highway 1 is a sweet deal for a very well made instrument. If Fender is pushing the the new American Special and phasing out the HWY 1, maybe the price will drop. Might be interesting...

Anyway, I've not met anyone disappointed with their HWY 1!!
