I have to say that Im really happy with fender (re)releasing the American
(highway One)Special line...But The great Fender Esquire always gets left in the cold...I only ever use the bridge pick-up on my highway one Texas telecaster, and I'd like to think that quite alot of us love the simlicity of the Esquire brand but would love to see a cheaper American model (dont get me wrong The custom shop models are great, but to most of us they are far out of reach, and I dont want to wait till i'm fifty to own a great american Esquire). Yes you can Mod the hell out of a telecaster to get what you want, but thats not the point...the Esquire is a true Guitarist Guitarists instrument, Its simplicity adds to its magic, and its heritige is unquestinable. I Love my Tele, but an Esquire to me is the grail of guitars...Needless to say I will be moding mine soon. But I think there is a market for many of us Esquire fans old and new to warrent such a release.

American Special "Texas" Esquire...sounds great to me, you know you
want too................DK

I think the market for esquires is not big enough to warrant a need to make a new one. Fender probably feels like they would lose money on it therefor it is not needed.

I've done that and it is fun. It's cheap too.

Don't forget the MIM '50s Classic Esquire if you want an "official" Esquire from Fender.

I totally sgree esquire's are one badass cool instrument.Would love to see an affordable American deluxe esquire. I own a MIM esquire in white and it is fine instrument also.I would probably buy 1 or 2 of them.

Again I agree with the fact that the market is too small. One shop I have here has the same one on the wall for I don't know how long. I considered buying it but decided to just make one out of one of my MIM Standards. Not to open up the MIM vs USA debate again. But in my opinion they are great guitars and great platforms for modding and it was alot of fun.
