Yes, I will have played both before my final decision but just wanted any input of your experiences! Thanks in advance... Here is what I am looking at:
Highway one Texas Tele from an individual $500.00 with gigbag...
OR
MIM (I gues standard) with American pick ups installed from my local music store... He will give me a hard case and Guitar for $500 plus tax.

I have played the MIM and the Tone was AWESOME as well as the action and intonation. This guy is incredible with setting up guitars,,, he is the only person that has worked on all of my other rigs... The only reason I did not buy on the spot is the neck and fret board was sticky... My fingers just didn't glide as they did on some of the others I played...

If it means anything, I want to use this for some "Crispy/Crunchy" tones on some of my original music... Overdriven to distorted... However, with last week being my first time to ever play a plugged in Tele, I already know it will have more uses than first anticipated.

I have both the 2009 HWY1 and the 2009 MIM Standard Teles. Both are fantastic. Neither have been modded and both are exceptional. I love the neck and the jumbo frets on the HWY1 and the grease bucket tone circutry is awesome. Those are the only reasons I would edge out the MIM with the HWY 1. Either way you can't go wrong.

I know color is secondary, but something about the HWY 1 flat finish turns me off a little. I was just trying to make the same decision as you and because of the flat finish I wound up buying a MIM Blackout Tele..its a Deluxe model with 3 pick ups. But either way their both good guitars and whatever you decide to do will be a good choice.

I own a HWY 1 Texas Tele and really like it alot. Plus it's always better to buy the American made instrument, all other things being equal.

One thing about the finish...you can get the Fender guitar care kit and man can you get a nice shine on the HWY 1...I did that and mine shines like a star.
