I have an 2008 American Standard tele with the 2 single coil p/u's and I play a lot of Jazz. Someone said that they have a Mexi tele and that it came with a routed area for a P90 (in the neck position) so they put a Lollar Charlie Christian model p/u in theirs (for great Jazz sound). The question is...can I do the same with my American Standard tele? Thanks, Bill

You could do it. It's been done before. Not sure how it would look though, you mean the soapbar one right?

...and not the dog ears?

I think the OP was wondering more if the MIA Teles are routed for a P90 in the neck position as someone claims their MIM Tele was, for a somewhat direct drop in and less intrusive mod...

Anything can be done with the right tools, just unscrew the PG and take a peek...if its not routed for a P90 it can be...

Its a nice little combo...here's my SX Tele with a P90 neck PU...
