I made a Tele disappear the other day, now you see it now you don't deal. It was hanging on the guitar store wall one minute, the next it was gone! Abracadabra and all that jazz

I have a very cool wiring diagram using a 5 way switch for a Tele.

This simple lick will make your hard rock friends stop and scratch their heads. Here it is in E but you can move it anywhere.

E-----12------------12----------------------
B------------12---- 12----------------------
G-------------------11-(bend to 13)-------
D--------------------------------------------
A--------------------------------------------
E--------------------------------------------

:) you can't be serious...

TELE TONE KNOB:

Many guitar players (especially rock guys) come from the "everything on 10" school for volume and tone controls, but the Tele really works well with those controls like nothing else. On most other guitars the tone controls are relatively useless.

I normally run my volume between 3/4 and full up, relying more upon my volume pedal to control level. But the tone control I use all over.

I play the bridge PUP most of all, at around 2/3 tone setting on average. I use the "tone wah" effect several times a night, it's just too much fun. I leave the tone backed off for the #2 position and often turn it full up for the neck PUP.

Back off the volume and peg the tone on the bridge position for great "scratch" rhythm parts. Turn down the tone on the neck PUP and comp some tight 9/11/13 chords for a great "Hammond organ" swing and blues backup (add a bit of amp tremolo to really nail it).

To make all this work, I set the amp up bright - treble at 6 to 8 on a DR. It makes for a great, versatile stage rig that covers nearly everything from jazz to rockabilly.

Yep, the tone knob. You can roll it off about three quarters of the way for the "sweet spot," get cool wah and crying tones by rolling back and forth, and just have a simple place where you can go to get distinct lead and rhythm tones. That's just a start.

Behind the nut bends also work very well on a Tele.

Very cool!

You can reverse the control plate and do some
great volume swells.

Correct me if I'm wrong. In my experiments w/ the tone knob I notice when I roll it back the tone gets darker... and that's all I sense.

sorry, that didn't come out right, I'm bad with words. I meant, the tele is an awesome guitar, that can be used for any type music. Experimenting with different settings, amps, etc.,. I think the sounds and tone of the tele, at least 50% of it, comes from the players fingers, heart and soul. Basically, you can do, just about anything with it.

Right now I play an American Strat (which I love) but I would like to purchase a Tele when I graduate next year. It would be the one I would take with me to college, and truely put some wear and tear on. I would like to have more variaty too with my sound. :)
