Well...I had to go to the ER today...and the old arm is in a sling the shoulder is getting worse..:( no tele playing for a while). To make matters worse I cleaned and polished them up yesterday. On the bright side I have been doing alot of writing and vocal tracks on what has already been recorded. I might lay down some keys (Left hand only CC) for background on a couple songs. CC I have a few ideas I will run by you..I'll email you and we can talk!!! Ricky, one of these days when I am out your way we will jam!!

Hey Eric, def get those ideas my way. I feel your pain bro and I hope you're up to speed again soon. Its great that you are still staying creative though! Keeps those Tele cravings to a minimum.

Brother E,

That sucks! Maybe it's time to bite the bullet and get the surgery done. Like I said before - I always had great faith in my ortho docs, military or civilian.

Figure out some lame excuse to get a TDY to Ft Sill. Maybe a crosstalk w/ the FA or ADA guys or something. I'm 40 minutes from Sill.

Keep the creative juices flowing and make sure Mrs airbornestrat takes good care of you! You'll heal up.

Rick

Rick,
I hear you..but in the military health care system they are very conservative...they are telling me well...we think you should try physical therapy for the next month...if it doesn't feel better by then we will do the surgery. This happened back in OCT...now in JAn it is worse than what it was... I just want to heal up so I am bummed :? BUT, MRS ABS is taking great care of me and not letting me do anything to make it worse. She is insisting I sit on the couch relax and drink coffee, watch TV and rest. I am a lucky man. It is possible about TDY to Sill. I have the best training development group in the Army and we have been getting alot fo calls for how we do it..:) Could be fun my brother.

It is not a Tele but it is a Fender..:) Rick what do you and CC think???

E -

I see no reason not to get the Highway 1 Strat. The way I look at it, some guys play golf, some collect guns, some are into cars, etc. If guys like us want guitars, I think we've a lot less harmless hobby than a lot of other guys. Plus, you've got Mrs ABS in your corner. What could be sweeter?

It's probably time to get on your docs case and have them get a knife after your shoulder. We'll have to PM one of these days about retirement/disability stuff. You'll be surprised about some of the disability benefits and what the VA is willing to do. I'm lucky to have a couple of really good VA counselors that have really helped me out with my transition to retired life. (It was right at a year ago I retired.)

What are you looking at for a CS build? I'm leaning towards a CS Nocaster in the next couple of months with my tax return. There are a lot on eBay and other places that are priced pretty reasonably. I'm also getting the urge to build a Partscaster or two. Not that I think I can build a better Tele, I just kinda want to build one. You know, if'n you get down time w/ your shoulder, that may be a neat project for you - build one of your own?

I've also got a couple of MIMs (Arctic White, Candy Apple Red) sitting in their boxes I bought strictly to mess with - tuners, bridges, pickguards, etc. Those are projects coming up as well. I need to get off my arse, get them done and post pictures of my herd one of these days.

By the way - my Super Champ XD smokes! That's one of the better pieces of gear I've ever bought. Thanks for the recommendation!

Hey guys, sorry I haven't replied, I been busy as hell these days. Hope everything is ok with you guys and that your injury is getting better Eric.

I think you should def go for the Strat. You could have a wonderful pair of HW1 guitars side by side. Would be so cool. I would love a Strat but I can't play them cos of where the Vol control is cos it's where I lay my crazy chops.

What all ideas do you have for a CS project? I would def get something properly legendary from Fender's early days if I could afford that.

Otherwise, have you ever considered a Fender with humbuckers for something a bit different?

Cheers guys,

CC

Well mates...I tried the HWY 1 Strat...no go...just no mojo for me...It was beautiful but I am a Teleman!!! I did however..order a Telacoustic..:) I am excited for it to be here!!! As for the CS Tele here is what I am doing. The neck is going to be now check this out my HWY 1 Tele neck sent to Fender CS and measured and made exactly the same with the jumbo frets. The color tobacco sunburst, white 3 ply pick guard gold hardward 3 saddle brass bridge the modern string tree and vintage tuners. Did you go for the straight acoustic or the Deluxe with Tele pickup?

CC,
I opted for the straight acoustic version. The deluxe was really sweet but, I am applying the remaning dollars to the CS Tele...:) What did you think of the description I gave yesterday?? Anything that you and Rick think I should add???

It sounds wonderful bro. I especially like the idea of the gold hardware and getting your neck exactly the same as your HW1.
Also loving the sunburst thing but do you want to see grain in the wood etc? I think you have all these options bro.
