Well, total beginner here. Just a mom who got a "deal" at Best Buy. Yeah, dont laugh yet. Thought I might get some answers here. Okay... USA made 52 Tele Reissue. Looks good, just some scratching on pick guard. But the more I look at the neck and the more I look at the stock photo of the neck on Fender.com. Im starting to think it's been switched. There is a Fender decal on the head of neck, but it doesn't say Telecaster. It should, right??...and there is some obvious rubbing under the Fender decal as if something were removed :( Are there supposed to be any serial numbers other than the patent number? Is there any other way I can tell if this neck has been swapped? Want to get my money back if they are pulling a fast one on me. Thanks. Happy 2010!

Unless I am completely missing something I don't see any serial numbers on the head stock. And again, shouldn't 'Telecaster' be on the decal under 'Fender' ?

i dont know about the serial number situation but if you look on the fender website you will see that this guitar should only say fender on it. so the sticker on the headstock is correct.

Daisy - I sure hope that is the real deal because that is one sweet looking guitar. I hope it ends up being a keeper.

I looked at the pics of the guitar here and didn't see "Telecaster" on the headstock either. Then I looked at Sweetwater's site and found the same guitar with "Telecaster" on the headstock:

I think the picture on this site does show the word telecaster, but it is very faint...

Either way I hope your guitar is the real deal, it is very nice looking.

I'm sorry, you are correct. I couldn't see it until I looked at the enlarged version of the image. That pic is really poor quality.

Could it be that the previous owner tried to turn it into a Nocaster by scraping away part of the decal?

Technically, the "previous owner" was Best Buy and therein lies the rub.

I think it a model year issue. I know that at one time the reissue did not have telecaster on the decal. I thought I had a pic saved but i can't find it. It had something to do with Broadcaster-Nocaster-Telecaster timeframe Being as the Telecaster name came after the original Guitar and the reissue was replicating that time frame. and a No-caster is a custom shop guitar. I guess the only things that pops into my mind right know is What is Best Buy doing selling Fender Guitars :?
