Here in the Support section on Product Dating, it does not show a date scheme for a newer (1990-2000) AV '52 Tele. All the specs always say "American Vintage Series except '52 Telecaster". How can I tell the date of one before I buy it?

I assumed it would be something like V0+ or XN+ .... any help would be great.

There should be a stamped date inside the control cavity.
More pencilled or rubber stamped dates on the body- end of the neck.
So to be sure you need to remove the neck from the body or ask for
pics taken by the current owner.

Thanks. I've been looking at one in a local GC that been there awhile and they're willing to make a pretty good deal, but I don't think they'll let me take the neck off to check the date 8) I'll just have to trust what they say.

if the original ashtray bridge is in place, the number should be stamped on it

No, unless it's in the case. It looks like it's been on the shelf for awhile as the pick guard is scratched up. They have it priced at $1495 and will give me an additional 15%, that's $1270! I figure since Fender has raised their pricing, they want to move this off to restock with a newer one. I just wanted to see if I could figure the year. Most likely a 2007-8.

Thanks
