Now I'm looking for a tele. Unlike most people who get into their first tele, I have a pretty clear idea of what I want. Unfortunately it may be a bit tough to find.

Here's what I NEED:

-Thinline

-Bigsby trem system

-Routed for HH

-Made in Japan, USA, Mexico (In that order)

and here's what I also WANT:

-Maple neck

-Nitro finish

I really want to buy the guitar with the first three things already done. The thinline is non negotiable. It's either there or not. The bigsby trem. Well, there are bigsby trems already on certain telecasters. But only specific ones will fit a HH in the bridge. The other tend to have the single coil mounted into the bridge plate. If I wanted to change it, it would mean: 1. Routing the bridge and drilling new holes for the new bridge to fit in. None of which I want to do. Plus a new bigsby trem isn't exactly free if you've priced them lately.

Do these exist and how much should I be willing to pay? Once I have the correct sum of cash I'm going to start scouring every store in the area for one.

On an unrelated note, is there anyway to have no tone pot switch, but the effect that the tone pot is turned all the way up? I guess I could put a tone put under the control panel or pickguard, but is there anything small I can use if space is an issue?

G'day.

Can't help you with the main part of your post but I can shed some light on your tone pot query.

If you don't want to run the tone control you can just bypass that part of the wiring. If you look at a Strat for instance, the bridge pickup generally is wired with no tone control so it is "wide open". The tone control is used to "roll off the highs" so if you bypass it it will be as if it's turned all the way up. Hope that makes sense.

Good luck in your quest to find your perfect Tele.

Here's an older thread at www.trpri.com. Of particular interest are posts #4 and #14.

http://www.tdpri.com/forum/telecaster-d ... igsby.html

So it looks like they exist but I imagine you'll have a long search.

Other options:

Fender Custom Shop:

Warmoth: www.warmoth.com

USACG: www.usacustomguitars.com

Here's a photo gallery that might give you some ideas:

Good luck.
