Hi everyone!
Few weeks ago I sold my american strat(there were some reasons :( ), so I'm going to buy a guitar.
I decided to buy a telecaster, but now I haven't got enough money for american one. The solution is japan tele, but there is no opportunity to play the guitar before buying(There's no japan tele on sale in my town).
So I've got a question: What are the periods of time when fender japan produced better guitars(for example - mid-80s or late 90s)?
Thanks in advance for your answers!

I've played several MIJ Tele's when I was looking to buy mine. I find that the late 80's and early 90's were the best. Mine is a 1994/95 fotoflame. I got lucky because the electronics are great and quiet and the pickups sound super vintage to me. I think with the MIJ Tele's it's not so much a hit or miss on the year so far as the structure and body but more hit or miss on the electronics. They are really nice guitars though for sure, I love my MIJ Tele. Unfortunately I may sell it so that I can get a nice acoustic as I miss my acoustic guitars and I have a HWY 1 Telecaster already.

My tele is an MIJ mid-80's (1987, maybe?) bought from my local shop. I picked it up and loved it more than the new MIA guitars they had in there. You have to try them first if you can...if I had seen mine online, I probably wouldn't have bought it.

Just my take on it - sorry if not helpful!

I took a chance on mine online because I got such a steal on it and I really got luck because it is a 10 out 10 for me no doubt.
