I've had my eye on a '52 AV Telecaster and am about to buy it. GC has a new one on the floor and will let me have it with a 15% discount for $1270. I think thats just an incredible price. I've not been able to find one even close. This weekend, Musicians Friends has a 20% discount, but it still puts it at $1450 +/-

My question though is I've seen specs here on the Fender site for wiring diagrams on a 52 AV Tele Special, but have never seen any (Specials that is). What it looks like to me is how the switch is wired. Non-special version has (in switch order 3-2-1) N (no tone) N (tone) B (tone). The Special shows N (tone) N/B (tone) B (tone). Are these two different models, or is it just a matter of how you want to wire it?

Also, I've not even looked at the Highway 1, is that a MIM model?

Thanks!

To my knoledge the 52 AV comes stock with the first wiring system you mention, but it comes with a kit for wiring it the second way you mentioned.

All reissues, that I know of, come the same way as the original. Why would anyone want to spend extra for a guitar and then change anything? If you want to customize it, then why not buy a good playing Squirer and customize to your hearts content. I have a '52 Tele (MIJ) reissue and I wouldn't change a thing on it (as long as it was working properly).
