Hey,

im new to the forums, have been on the Gibson forums for a while, and after christmas am looking to purchase a new toy :)
At the moment i play a Gibson SG Standard and run through Marshall DSL50. However i have always been intrested in tele's and was wondering if you guys could give me some advice on buying tele's. I have a Squier strat which was my fisrt guitar and has served me well until 2 years ago when i purchased my SG.
Just wondering how the mexican fenders are, they seem to be very resonably priced, and from what reviews ive read people seem to like them.
Ive also been looking into an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, any of you own both an epi lp standard and a mexican tele and could give me some advice on which to get?
i mostly play rock, blues and some hardcore/metal stuff.

feedback appreciated,

Cheers,

Larsson

personally i dont think you could even compare the tele to the les paul, completely different leagues!

and yea, try a few out, i think their amazing. Would choose mine over all the american teles and deluxes iv ever tried. Seriously good guitars and should never be underestimated! :D

Welcome to the forums.

One question: is your first name Henrik and are you the greatest footballer who ever lived?

Go for the MIM Tele, great instruments.

You really need to play a variety and see for yourself....I'd suggest trying a Standard, Hwy 1, Baja and Nashville to start!

welcome to the forums.

if you are willing to spend a little more than a standard i would really suggest a highway 1 tele.

Hi Larsson, welcome to the forum. Hang around and post often, it is a very cool place here. As for the feedback thing, I own a MIM Strat and a Highway One Tele and I love them both. I had to bring the Strat four times to the luthier before it sounded just right to my ears (minor adjustments) but now it is perfect. The Tele was flawless right out of the box. Try a few ones and see what is good for you. Good luck. :)

Hi Larsson, don't forget to try the Squier Classisc Vibe Telecaster, great guitar for less money

YES! Love the Highway 1. Excellent choice for your first tele. Wonderful feel, sweet frets, punchy pups and a great finish.

I have a Hwy1 (first Tele) and it's been a keeper now for over 7 years. It has a somewhat muted tone that in some respects more (and this is very relative) resembles how I use my SG than my American Std Teles.

Still, the AmStd (2008 model) has a lot of that classic twang associated with the Tele.

I have a couple of Thinlines, but that's somewhat specialty if you're looking for "a" Tele. And somewhat ironically, for soft jazz I find that the muted Hwy1 seems to work as well if not better than the semi-hollow Thinlines. (Yep, go try is the only way in the end.)

To answer your original question, the MIM are terrific, especially over the past few years. Well made, very playable and the quality exceeds the price. You can't go wrong, especially for your first.
