I don't think that Fender makes standards that are top loaders. I believe all of them are through body.

Early in the production of Mexican Tele's (don't quote me, but I believe 1995 was the model year change) they were top loaders. After that they were string through.

I've got a 1994 MIM that's a toploader. The only reason I bought it, is if I ever want to build a Jim Campilongo replica I'd have the body to start with.

mrwizer - do you know what year your Tele is? If not, post the serial # here and we can figure it out for you.

Ricky,
My brother come 2010 you don't have to build a Jim Campilongo Tele...you can get one form the CS..:) also...you can get a rare one in Orange to match his new Tele....what do you say my brother??

mrwizer - your serial number checks as a '95 MIM model which would have a toploader. What gives you the idea it may be a fake?

E - I've thought about the Campy CS, but I'm kinda getting the urge to build me a partscaster replica. (Maybe I'm hanging out too much on TDPRI) ...just thinking a toploader would be a bit different... also starting to have thoughts about a CS '51 Nocaster... How's your plans/ideas coming for your CS?

Fender MIM Standard Teles were top-loaders until 1998.

They had a flat bridge plate with six barrel saddles - not the current block saddles.

This guy really researched this subject well. Check this link, especially if your MIM has a 'Black' label, and made b/t 1993-1998:

qblue - thanks for the link. Mine is actually a black label Squier Series, but like the article said - it is a true Fender, not a Squier. The Squier Series label was used as the "economy" Fender model during that time period.

It's not a bad little Tele actually, but I really just bought it for the top loader body. Everything else will get replaced.

I appreciate the info! Fender Japan had a similar deal with their Strat's and Squier series about the same time and the same deal - economy series Fenders.
