Hi,

someone locally is advertizing a late 60's tele for sale. It has been stripped (and varnished I believe), it does not have the original neck (replacement is not a fender) nor pickups nor case (gigbag only).

I was considering buying it to re-finish it in an original color because it seems cool but is it worth it ? If the body is original how much can it be worth ?

Wow, it's hard to say without seeing it. My advise would be to price out everything that would be need to finish it off. If you are going for value when you're finished consider replacing the neck with a new or used Tele neck. Compare that total of the parts and possibly the cost of a luthier to the cost of a complete one. Then you can make a decision. Good luck.

The main question is the body original cuz thats the only real value and alot of that was lost when it was stripped. Is it playable? Still nothing original but the body hum; If it's dirt cheap and you want a project maybe, but if you need a neck, pickups, probably pots, and tuners I'd do a little looking on ebay first you can pick up a unfinished ash body for under a 100 bucks (I got one for 45.00) Just be careful or you'll spend more than a new one costs building a partscaster.

Yeah, like he says. With it being a 60's unit it should be worth some serious bucks if you restore it to original. Send us some pics if you can. It sounds like a great project. Best of luck!
