Thinking about a Marshall amp. Anyone playing through one now or have an opinion?

Yep. What he said! And it'll also depend on which Marshall.

I have played mine through a friend's Valvestate. Not sure of the model: its an older 2x12 combo with 40watts stereo so it has the chorus built in.

Sounds quite awesome. But then a big 2x12 in just about anything will sound quite awesome in a suburban bedroom! For Blues and classic rock it's the Good Stuff!

Cheers.

Its all personal choice. Depends on type of music you play and tones you wish to achieve. I like to play clean thru fender tube amps, but also add pedals when needed. I do think marshalls are great amps also, which contribute to many great players tone.

I have 2 JCM 800s a 2204 50wt. 1/2 stack and a 4210 1-12" combo and my Tele sounds great through both.A lot of people have the misconception that Marshalls are suited for hard rock and metal only however Roy Orbison used a 50wt. Artiste for years and Badfinger got both their clean and dirty tones from 2204s.A Marshall can really bring out the spank and quack in a tele when played clean and can dirty it up real pretty too.The Haze 45wt. combo should be worth a look.

+1 on the Marshall 4210 1-12" combo, an all around great amp if you can find one.

Fender's Hot Rod Deluxe is also a great amp for Fender guitars, and readily available, and reasonably priced IMO.
