This is something I know very little about but I hear people talking about it on here all the time. I'm preparing to do the following to my HWY 1.

-change pickguard
-change pickups
-possibly change tuners

Is changing the pots/switch something I would want to do as well? if so can someone recommend which pots/switch to change to?

I found this but not sure if this is what I am looking for or not. Thanks in advance.

I think the pots they come with are Fine. Even in the MIM's.

Some of these things are blown out of proportion by the purest type that need to justify all the money they spend replacing this and that with "BETTER" parts.

I don't beleive the human ear is good enough to know the diff.

If you don't have any actual function/mechanical problems, leave it alone.

Pickups are a good thing to expiremnet with though if your looking for a different tone. Most of the other stuff is just hype.

I say guitars are meant to be played. If you want to play mechanic, go in the garage and rip the car apart.

BCB,
My brother, As a fellow Highwayman, I would not recommend changing th pots at all. Remember, you have the greasebucket currently on your HWY1 and who knows what that will do to it if you change it out...JMO my brother. You will need to post some new pics once you get the other mnods done..:)

ahh yeah the greasebucket...even though I never knew what that was I always heard people talking about that. sounds like there is no need to change it then.

my only decision now is whether or not to put my boutique pickups in the HWY 1 and the Highway 1 pups in the MIJ Tele or to leave them both stock. I really really want to put the Kinman Broadcasters in my HWY 1 because that'd turn it into even more of a beast. I'm just not sure if the stock pups in the MIJ are better than those in a HWY 1 or not, but my guess is the HWY 1 pups are better. Any idea ABS?

BCB,
You are my fellow Highwayman brother..:) AND the official Kinman Broadcaster pup spokesman on this forum..:) If you are telling me that these pups will make your HWY1 even better for what you want..man brother go for it!!! BUT!!! You need to post some pics and some samples I am really looking forward to hearing your tone machine..:) I am saying this as a buddy not in sarcasm. You know me...I am a very traditional guy I keep my stuff stock(also by doing that I am saving up for a CS Tele):)

I'm still working on playing well enough to post videos! But here is a video comparing the Kinman Broadcasters to the Samariums. A friend of mine who has played for close to 45 years put me on to the Kinmans and he had them in his 52 reissue and also in 2 of his Strats. I'll tell you, anytime anyone played the 52 they wanted to buy it immediately or would offer to buy the pups from him. I'm a believer in them being the best pups I've heard.

I will have my Hwy 1 in the shop getting all the mods done to it soon. Just waiting on my MIJ to come in so I won't be without an axe to play. It'll come back with a black white black guard, brass compensated saddles. new pups and possibly new tuners...you know anything about vintage tuners Airborne? Check my tpic here and let me know please...

Well I planned to get the Fender licensed replacements:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWAX:IT

but I know there are the Gotoh ones also.

Whichever ones wont require drilling or leave holes on the back of the headstock are the ones I want to go with, if possible.
