I am considering buying a "new" Tele (playing aprx 20 yrs, purchased 20+ used guitars) and I would prefer a nitrocellulose finish.

My online poking suggests:

- all Custom Shops (beyond my $ range) have nitro finish,

- "Road Weathered" (or whatever its called,I'll assume these are made in the Far East, given the price around $1K, like a poor mans 'custom shop'?) also have nitro,

Can a reputable Fender authority tell me if any other new Teles come with the nitro finish?

thanks,

rick

Can a reputable Fender authority tell me if any other new Teles come with the nitro finish? You can get one of these for $700 new and it is a killer deal on a USA Telecaster.

thanks,

rick

The Highway 1 and Highway 1 Texas Special both come with nitro finish.

I'd like to be a CRS (Certified Relic Specialist), all I would require is $20,00 a year and all the Telecasters they could give me. I'd play about 15 hours a day and relic their guitars naturally for them.

Will do, I should be able to get him paid and have it in house within 10 days! for $425 or possibly $375 if i sell the electronics out of it, I figure it was a killer deal.

None of them truly have a "Nitro" finish. Every single one of them has a Poly Primer applied to the wood before the final finish. So you can get a Nitro finish or a Poly finish applied on top of your Poly primer.

If it's an original vintage Fender, it's nitro through and through.
If it's a vintage re-issue Fender, it has the poly primer under the nitro finish.

Either it's old or it's not old fellas. :)
