Has anyone paid these or had any experience with these? I have been checking them out but haven't played one in person yet. A guy here local is selling one for $800 and I am going to go check it out tomorrow.

Anyone own one of these or played one? I've always wanted one and had one briefly but it was MIA.

Have played a couple of MIJ Telecasters and Strats and can only say they look, play and sound great. As far as I'm aware they all have Dimarzio pickups. I haven't played a 52, just a 52 Hotrod and a standard Tele but they both played and sounded awesome. And the finish on them was as good as anything I've seen.

Good luck and please post some pics when you get it!

i was supposed to go play it today but with had too many errands for thanksgiving to run so Im checking into it on sunday. He said he would be willlng to trade for my acoustic thats worth about 4600 so I wonder if there are any issues with the MIJ or if 600-700 for a MIJ 52 reissue is about right

I have played several 50s style Japanese Teles(not specifically a 52 reissue to my knowledge)and they are great guitars for sure.I don't find them to be superior to the U.S. or high end mexican stuff though. Many japanese Fenders are basswood body, polyester finish with average grade pickups and electronics. These are fine but I prefer the Mexican classic or roadworn 50s Teles or the U.S. 52 reissue.

good info, i have always wanted a 52 RI and would be willing to get one made outside of the US, but it'll need to be top notch, a great player at a considerably lesser prices than the US 52 or I'll save up and get a US one.

Hi, I have owned many MIJ/CIJ Teles. The 52s come in several variations of color, the most common being brown burst and Blonde see through finish. You can see a sample of a few on website:

http://xhefriguitars.com/page11.html

Most of these have the nice V shaped neck which is a little bit chunky. I love the feel. Regarding the pickups. All these came stock with Japanese pickups, unless it is the newer 62 Bound Reissues which will often have Texas Specials. But with the 52s they have the same Japanese vintage reproduction pickups. They do not sound bad, but I almost always replace them with Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio or something like that.

Regarding Price, I see these go on eBay fro between $500 to $650 quite often, unless it is an Extrad, which is like Japanese Custom Shop....
