The first one I ever played is in the picture below. I had been a diehard Gibson fan all my life. I had only owned one Fender, a Strat back in the early 70's. I bought it new and about 3 months into it the neck warped. The store "fixed it" and it warped again. It was a sidewarp they told me. Bottom strings were dead on the nut end of the neck and top strings dead on the bottom of the neck. Fender would not warranty it. Needless to say I was not happy with Fender at that time. I then traded it back in for an SG. No problems with that guitar at all. I now know that Fender had quality issues back then. Back in '99 I figured I'd try Fender again. I traded my LP in on the Strat below and loved it. About a year later I was back in the store again and saw the Tele. As soon as it was in my hands, I knew that this was THE ONE. I left the store, but I couldn't stop thinking about the Tele. I went back and bought it. If I could only own one guitar, this would be it. All stock, great tone, great neck. About the only guitar that I've ever owned that I didn't want to change a thing on. :D

The first Tele I played wasn't called a Tele yet...It was a Broadcaster. Up until that time I had played only acoustics, but the fast action and ease of playing on that Fender will always be remembered. The '52 reissue I have now is close to the way I remember that Broadcaster. I like the 7.25 radius and can't understand why Fender no longer uses it.

Thought I'd always be a strat player, till I picked up my butterscotch deluxe tele. I play it 90% of the time, gigs and at home. I pick up the others once in awhile 'cause I feel bad, need to justify having more than one.
