So, I'm a long time EMG user/abuser and a first time Fender buyer. I'm tired of bells and wistles and am ready for something solid and simple and along comes the Jim Root Telecaster, Woo-Hoo!!!

I greatly appreciated the pics of the white one and would love to see pics of the black one if anybody's got one. I'm also interested in hearing about the stability of this beast-anyone play the heck out of one yet to see how it holds up?

Also...(at the risk of missing out on one myself)
I just spoke with a rep from musiciansfriend.com and (as of right now) their expecting to get the Jim Root tele in early December and have it available for pre-order on the website around a week prior.

Are these out yet? Someone said mid September. Any idea if you'll be able to get the white one with a maple fretboard?

I'm guessing that whoever posted photos of the white one earlier on this very forum received theirs already.
As far as the getting the different neck style-as dumb as it may sound you're probably best off trying to find someone with a nice shiny new one who wants an ebony fretboard for their black one (like me!) Either that or buy two and swap them yourself...

I'll keep you in mind when I get one as I prefer maple, but ebony might be quite nice as well.

So here's one for all you 'knotheads- I know it's all up to personal preference and what gauge of strings you're using- blah blah blah. Does anyone know what action Jim or even Mick sets their guitar to for the drop-B tuning? My tolerance of buzzing seems to be waning as I age and I'm basically going nuts at this point (and I typically use heavier strings for this tuning than they do, that is >11-15-18-28-38-58).

All I'm looking for is somewhere to start, a reference point...

Jim Root?
that's weird.

I couldn't imagine the guitarist for Slipknot playing a tele.
Going from BC Rich to Fender is quite a stretch

Mick Thompson used BC Rich

I heard the same thing from SamAsh. I think we're both S-O-L until February...
