Jim Root?
that's weird.

I couldn't imagine the guitarist for Slipknot playing a tele.
Going from BC Rich to Fender is quite a stretch

He was never indorced by bc rich. He started using teles on stage on slipknot's third album.
He used the flat head tele, flat head shomaster,a custom showmaster and 2 custom Chavels. Then in 2006 and 2007 with stone sour he only used teles,Flat head tele And 2 of his new signature teles that are coming out soon. I think they might be debuting them at summer NAMM.

I've talked to him a couple times about it on his myspace. He's not sure about the release date but he wants to keep the price under $1000. He told me Around $900.

This is one of His Quotes about the specs:

"Mahagony body, maple necks with either maple or ebony fretboards, 12 degree fretboard radius, jumbo frets, schaller locking machines, EMG 81/60, 1 volume knob, 70's tele logo, matte black with white pickgaurd and matte white with black pickgaurd, dot inlays. There won't be anything on it that says's "Slipknot" or "Stone Sour" only my signature on the headstock."

I just talked to him, this is what he gave me.

Quote From Jim:

"Alright... Here we go.

Mahogany Body
Maple neck
Nitro White with black pick guard has ebony fretboard
Nitro black with white pick guard has maple fretboard
12 degree radius fretboard
Contoured neck heel
String through body
22 jumbo frets
Fender locking machines
EMG 60 neck
EMG 81 bridge
Three way blade switch
One volume (Strat style)
70's Tele logo
Fender hardcase (Not molded SKB style) Silver and black with red velvet interior (like 60th anniversery case)
They'll be Mexican to keep the cost down, But they are exactly what I use on stage and in the studio.
It's based on a cross between the Flathead teles and the Charvels I used on the Subliminal Verses tour.

That's about it.
I'm sure there's something I forgot...
See ya,
J"

Some more info from him:

"Uh... They're talking about releasing it at summer NAMM.
I'm going to try to make for the release, but I'm not sure that I'll be able to. We're finishing a European tour right now and I'm moving out of state. We're starting a month tour in the States and it may be to tight of scheduling for me to get there."

Anyone think that since Jim is naturally left handed there might be a remote chance of a left handed alternative to his signature model? or am I just clutching at straws?

Actually, while im here does anyone know if fender has ever done left handed signature models?
