Hi!

I recently bought this guitar and i absolutely love it. It feels good, plays good and looks really good too. I just happen to have a little issue with the pickups. This model is equipped with Fender wide range humbuckers and i really like the sound of 'em, really good bite and enough twang. Only problem is that the bridge pickup overpowers the neck pickup. Theres a huge difference in the output between these too positions. I have already tried lowering the bridge pickup and raising the neck pickup but that doesn't solve the problem and appears not to be the issue. I thought these pickups were similar, but they do seem to have a significantly different output levels.

Has anyone had similar issues with this guitar (or other deluxe telecasters)?. Could this be a problem somewhere else on the electronics? I've heard people changing the pots to 500k versions for more clarity, but i somehow don't think that would solve this output difference problem. I don't want to roll off the bridge volume to match the output levels because it cuts the high frequencies.

Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

Frankly, I think your neck pickup may be defective. Changing pots is irrelevant where this problem is concerned. Bring it to an authorized Fender facility for evaluation.

I went to my music store where i bought the guitar and they took a look at it. They weren't able to spot anything on wiring etc. and because they are not authorized by Fender when it comes to repairing and maintenance under warranty, the guitar was sent to sweden (i'm from finland). Bad luck.

If they couldn't find the source of the problem, obviously they are not a competent repair facility at all.

Are you saying that they took your guitar and shipped it to a Fender repair facility in Sweden?

They could have ordered another pickup and changed it to my guitar, but because they are not authorized by fender to act on warranty issues, they have no choice but to send it. That's how it goes here in scandinavia. They have the skill needed, but they can't do bigger operations under warranty because Fender probably isn't going to pay the parts and the work been made as a warranty-fix because they are not authorized. There used to be an official Fender service in finland but for some reason it's now only been made abroad. They did fix one switch on my amps (fender) footswitch that didn't work even though my amp was under warranty, but that's because they probably didn't need any new parts or something.

Most unfortunate. Well, at least you will not have to pay for it.
