Get a nice mexican one. Also for something punk i thought you'd like a thicker humbucker sound because with a single you'll be getting a think grungy sound but still, Its all good.

This is totally an individual thing...some folks will say MIM some MIA. I have both and I love both! My recommendation play both and decide from there on what you like and can afford. Let us know and post some pics!!!!

Ah right, in that case they must be this then:

That being the case i presume they must take a battery, they're active humbucking pickups. So what your going to get is a very BIG tone.

If they dont take a battery then they're probably one of EMG's passive pickups.

I suggest you try that mexican tele, but just before you buy it, try an Ibanez RG, DN (Darkstone), SZR or even a iceman.

The ibanez's are great quality and a little thinner bodied then the tele and the pickups are have a higher output so they will get that thinner and choppier sound too. Also they're surprisingly good with clean so you;d be covered with the indie too. Also they look amazing at such a low price, look at this one:

It glows in the dark! and its bearly over £175 ($290)

In your price range you will probably need to go with MIM. Both models are nice guitars. The American will have a hand rolled fingerboard which is a little more comfortable, and slightly better electronics. I can hear a diffrence between the MIA I have and the MIM I gave to my son. Whether or not the differences are worth the extra cost is a matter of personal preference.
