Talk to me boys. What do you like/dislike, etc about your thinlines? How do they sound vs a "traditional" Tele sound?

Recommendations?

Thanks!

Rick

Well, after about five hours of standing on stage with one, my shoulder/back doesn't hurt too bad. :?

The only thing that's stock is the wood though, well some of the wood.

Unlike Miami Mike's Thinline, mine is a completely stock MIM '72 Reissue. :)

The light weight is a definite plus, though. The tone is thicker and more mellow than a classic Tele. Roll back the treble a bit and add some overdrive and my Thinline is my favorite Tele for playing blues.

I wasn't sure how much I would like a Thinline until I played one. I can't think of anything I don't like about mine. It's a nice complement to my Classic Player Baja.

In my brief encounters with Thinlines, I've found the sound not too different, but I DO like the humbuckers vs the traditional Tele pickups..

Can't say I fancy the standard knobs though, they seem quite ugly...>_>

Weight is always a bonus...gotta love the sound of LP's, but god do they break your back after an hour or two.

ps, I hope it's not heresy to admit liking both Fender and Gibson...apples and oranges, IMO.

Of course it isn't man. Different beast altogether. I would love a Gibson ES-137 or ES-135.

The newer, modern Thinlines must be pretty sweet, becasue they sure are hard to find.

I read the 72 thinline was created for the purpose of competing with the sound of the les paul.

Anyway, I love mine, though I have not played many traditional teles.

though they just came out with a new Classic Player that looks like a fantastic combo thinline

I have a '72 Thinline Tele and I love the sound. Different sound, though........due to the two humbuckers.

I've been wanting to try a '69 Thinline Reissue with two vintage single coil pickups but none of the Guitar Centers in the area stock them. I have always been a play before buying type and I'm not going to commit to buying one before I can try it.

But wait! I found a local independent shop that has two '69 Thinline Reissues in stock. Guess where I'm going today?

Just love my 72 thinline it’s a MIJ reissue from 1985 and a good work horse, I can get the telecaster twang to a Gibson’s 335 tone and seeing as I play Britt Blues and Rock , the plus side besides the tone it doesn’t brake your back on 2 hour gigs .
Cheers
