Heya,

I'm Pete, and new here, hoping someone can help me out regarding my shiny new Telecaster.

I'm unsure of the model.

Its a Mex model. White with maple neck and black pick guard.

Nerld knobs

...and the part that took me unawares... a 4 positions switch.

Purchased in Canada

Any idea as to the model...

Regarding the four position switch... what are the wirings... and when we say position 1, is that the position nearest the volume knob?

Sorry, if this is all lame, my other guitars an SG and I've no experience with a four position switch.

Hi again Par. Do you have the serial number? The number of pick-ups? Single coils/ humbuckers? A picture would be nice but if you can't add a pic right now, give us more details please. I'm not a Tele expert but maybe I can help. :)

I tried the guitar dater site.

http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx

Yours was made at the Esenada Mexico plant in the year 2008/2009. Sometimes you can find additional infos in the price list catalog. Just click on the "Resources" at the top of this page. You can compare models and have more luck. Ebay is also a good source of infos but you have to be carefull and doublecheck everything. Good luck. :)

G'day.
Is the colour actually white? Or a more creamy kind of colour? It almost sounds like a Baja Telecaster. Otherwise it could be just a standard white Tele where someone has swapped the pickguard for a black one and fitted a 4 way switch (not uncommon mod).

But pics would be great!

Cheers.

I've heard of people using 4 way switches on Teles, what does the extra setting do?

Assuming that Fender installed the switch the same way that people do the mod, positions 1,2,&3 are all same as any Tele, and position 4 is both pickups in series... which kinda makes them into a widely spaced bucker.

The instrument is white, very white, maybe what Fender calls Arctic White, and the pick guard is black with tiny silver flecks.

It does not have the S 1/2 switch of a Baja.

I bought it brand new, which is why I'm trying to find the exact model, the dealer here did not seem to realize it was anything other than a plain Tele standard. I'll check again at the dealer with some more pointed questions, but at this point it does appear this guitar is Fender stock, not dealer mod.

Thanks All... Peace .. Pete

That's it!! Thanks alot for the help everyone. The guys at the guitar shop show it in there records as a Tele Standard. So someone's records got messed, either in shipping from Fender or at the store, either way, I love it.

Peace Pete

Pete, lucky you, you have all the reasons to be proud of your axe. Thanks to George for providing the link. They say on the site that only 250 were made, do yours have a special identifying number on it? The four positions switch sounds interesting, I might consider putting one in my Tele. See ya. :)

It is a beaut. If there's a x of 250 number I haven't found it, but I assume that the serial number could trace that.

I'm very pleased and thanks again to everyone here.

Peace .. Pete

I don't know about the 250 cuz Sam Ash had them online and I'd heard about them before. I know Sam Ash does get some FSR Fenders that I haven't seen at any other online store They have a 48th street custom Strat. in the closeout section now. The FSR western Tele is a standard mim but with the 4 way and alinco 5 pu's. The nice thing about FSR's is they are the same price as a standard but with upgrades

Enjoy It's a nice axe 8)

Wish it was mine
