Back in 2003, I bought a '52 Telecaster (American Vintage Series) brand-new for $1,200. Nowadays, the same guitar (2009, brand-new) runs for over $1,800. Why the huge increase in price? Is there something different about the newer guitar? Or is it simply a matter of supply/demand? My 2003 model has about 10 hours of playing time on it. It is worth $1,800?

I guess the number crunchers at fender felt the increase was needed.
I think the guitar is the same now as in 2003. Even with only 10 hours of play time it is still a used guitar, so it isnt worth 1,800. The good news is that you can probably sell yours for what you paid or maybe a little more.
