Hello everyone, first post. I have a problem I could use some help with. I'm in an experimental jazz/rock band, and I play a Custom Tele with Seymour Duncans through a Hot Rod Deluxe. Now, I know these are both "hot" running items, but I am having extreme difficulty obtaining clean tones at high volume. I've tried lowering my pickups a little bit, and I've experimented with rolling back the volume on the guitar and turning up on the amp, and vice versa. All to no avail.... Considering taking it to a shop, but would rather do myself. Please help me. Thank you. email me if you wish

Hmmm...those Duncans are probably a little too hot, but I know that Deluxe should have some decent headroom.

Your bridge pickup will distort quicker than the neck will, depending on which your playing on most of the time. Also, if you bump up the gauge on your wound strings, they won't distort as easy either, it takes alot more "umph" to distort bigger strings. Of course then your gonna have to file your nut, whether or not you want to worry with all that, I don't know.

If your wanting a somewhat clean sound "all" the time, you might want to think about getting some more pickups.

Duncans are good, but you can't expect them to perform perfect through everything.

Part of the fun is having multiple guitars for the various sounds you want! Even if its an inexpensive guitar, you might just consider getting another one and setting it up for clean.

You didn't say which seymours your using...

To help you, since you have Seymoures...I'd ask them. They respond quickly (like Fender USED TO) and also have a fourm. Thier techs are up to snuff and then some..
