To start the discussion, anyone else out there a fan of slightly higher action/string height for improved tone? I'm not talking improperly high but definitely in contrast to trying to get things as close to the neck as possible...

I get enough tone highs or lows with the strings slightly above as low as possible without buzzing and like it that way. Aren't Teles know for thier twangy tone anyhow? But I hear higher strings give better tone but comfort of playing is more important for me.

Strings will yield better tone when the action is higher. Heavier gauge strings will also yield better tone. Both will sacrifice ease of play but give better tone.

I have noticed a slightly more rich tone when the action is higher. The problem I have with the higher action is that it makes barre chords so much more difficult to play, especially on an acoustic guitar. For me the improvement in tone is not justified when it causes me to play those chords in a sloppy manner. Maybe some of you dont have that problem, but I do.
