I was super excited yesterday because I went to pick up the HWY 1 Tele that I had ordered from GuitarCenter. They called me and told me it had been delivered and I went over to get it. I got there and gave it a quick over beause my girlfriend and parents were waiting in the car for me and were in a hurry. Pulled it out of the box then guitar bag (whih I wish for a MIA it came with a case) and it was beautiful...Honey Blonde with the maple neck. All looked good. Got it home, and immediately noticed two close to 6 inch surface scratches and a little ding that I hadn't noticed in store! I took it back and they are sending it back and getting me another but I was super bummed out nonetheless.

Thats it, just needed to vent a bit! haha

You're lucky that they will replace it for you. Good luck!

Why not have it shipped direct to your place?

The Tele was boxed up with the scratch! How is it Guitar Center's fault???? If you read the OP he says he UNBOXED it at the store. How could Guitar Center scratch a guitar in a gig bag inside a box????

To dbr2026, Fender should make good and send a new one without dings from the factory. Good luck!
Oh, and DO NOT bring you're parents and girlfriend with next time. You will feel rushed and leave without being able to go over the Tele in great detail. I've learned to drop my wife off at the mall before I go to the guitar shop. That way I have all the time in the world and everybody is happy!

Welcome to Hwy 1 ownership. I really dig my Hwy 1 Tele. Too bad about the scratches but, Fender is making it right so no worries.

Have fun with it when you get it back. They will make it right for you.

I ordered an all white MIM Tele last week from American Musical Supply for a build project and when I got it from the UPS guy it was perfect! So don't worry, it was just your unlucky day.

Guitar Center will get it right for you this time.

I wanted to get it shipped to the store just in case something happened like that and also because i live in the ghetto and it would diasappear from the leasing office in a heartbeat!

It was unboxed (as in they opened it once it was delivered and when I got it it was in the gig bag and still in the box) at the store but I also wouldn't put it past one of their "Sales persons" to have taken it out and accidentally scratched it and since you have to hold it at an angle given the nitro finish they didnt think I would have seen it. I could be wrong but this particular GC is a really poorly run store, but my only option in many miles other than another local shop that is way over priced.

Call up Fender and ask how they ship it.

It is my understanding that they are shipped wrapped in protective white foam type covering with the gig bag in the box.

A finish flaw yeah, but a scratch from the factory unlikely.

As for the Hwy anything...a very vulnerable finsih to begin with.

Maybe Divine Providence here. Giving you time to rethink.

Maybe wait for the American Std. as in save about 300 dollars or less...or get 2 MIM's...or evn just 1...

I'm fine with it getting dinged up, but I want to be the one to put the dings on it. I'll be perfectly fine with the Hwy 1 once I get my Kinmans in it and won't be parting with it.
