Firstly, the only current model guitar you can compare it with is the MIM Tele Deluxe, there isn't a MIA model at the moment.

Having said that, the MIJ (or probably to be more correct) the CIJ version is a very nice guitar probably just marginally nicer than the MIM version (which is also a nice guitar in it's own right). Whether it's worth the extra $$$ is hard to say.

Personally, I prefer the Japanese Wide Range HBs to the MIM ones, as I was only yesterday playing a CIJ 72RI Thinline, which has the same pickup configuration and I also own a MIM Deluxe.

Of course, neither of these fine guitars sounds quite as stunning as an original 70s version, but they certainly are close.

Looks like a nice guitar. I wouldn't say its overpriced either. The japanese Teles and strats are fine instruments.

I agree this doesn't look overpriced - there are a couple of people selling MIJ stuff on ebay and I spent a lot of time researching whether it was real kit and the right price - yours looks in line price wise with what I have seen elsewhere - there are also one or two specialist dealers in the UK selling for around £800, so again, the numbers look right after they have paid shipping.

That one is WAY overpriced!!! Here is the price for one at Musician's Friend, and here is their price for the Classic Player w/Black Dove P90s version.

those prices are only a few dollars different from the Japanese model?
Surely just comes down to personal preference?
Best just to buy one and get playing I think!

Thanks for the replies and you opinions. I agree that it is a matter of personal preference and I just love the red color showing the grain ! The ones listed on MF are either walnut or black. I haven't seen the sunburst one though. I would probably put a creme pearloid pickguard on it right away. Maybe I could find one with a slight red tint to the pearloid.
Right now I just can't get over the $110.00 shipping w/o a case.
That's a long way from Japam to NM ! I am afraid it might get dinged or ?
How does the build quality stack up to MIA ? Like pots and such ?
