Hi guys, after 25 years of dreaming i finally broke down and bought a new American Deluxe ASH Tele - butterscotch + maple. Firstly, i have to say I now know what true love is.

Ok, here's the question, i have worked out that it's a 2008 serial number and all the example on the fender site and elsewhere show the single-ply black pickguard as the 5-hole re-issue style. However, mine is a single-ply, but 8-hole? I've not seen one like this anywhere. Does anyone know if this was standard last year or some time during production?

Also, my neck pickup has a little SCN engraved in the face - presumably this stands for Samarium Cobalt Noiseless. Again, i've not seen that on the Fender pictures, but possibly too small to stand out.

All good - love the axe. The neck is an extension of my arm now.

Yes, SCN = Samarium Cobalt Noiseless
Yes, AD Teles have 8 screws securing the pick guard.
Yes, you now know what true love is.
Welcome to AD Tele ownership. You have "arrived".

Now all you need is a Vibro-King and you will have the ultimate setup.

BTW .... Calgs = Calgary?

Thanks for that.

Strangely, the ASH Tele Deluxe, in butterscotch is pictured with the 5-hole pick guard when you switch the view to it on this site, so i thought i had myself a rare strummer.

I'll stick to my Blues Junior until i get out of the lounge and have a #1 single. Amazing little tube amp if you ask me for the price.

Calgs. Yes, Calgary. I left town 15 years ago to travel the world and that's what people started calling me. It got shortened to Calgs after a few months.

Blues Junior, huh? Is it stock? If it is then you seriously owe it to yourself to look into the BillM mods for the little BJ. I did it and it made my little amp sound HUGE! It's not any louder but it has serious balls on the bottom now and beautiful bell like tones that make you think of old Fenders gone by. BillM will show you how to swap a couple capacitors in the tone stack to make a significant difference but to really get the benefit you need to go all the way and swap out the output transformer and install a better speaker. Mine has been literally transformed. By the look of his web site I'd say he has added a number of modes since I did mine
