I just picked up a new Highway One Tele in 3-tone sunburst. I like the matte finish well enough, but would like to polish it up to a glossier finish. What products have given you the best results? Thanks!

See this discussion on another forum: http://www.tdpri.com/forum/stratocaster-discussion-forum/116936-made-my-highway-1-strat-finish-glossy.html

I hope it helps.

I don't know if its best or not but I use GHS guitar gloss on my Hwy 1 and it looks good and shiny and easy and cheap to use. I am wanting my Tele to look good a long time and am in no real hurry for the road worn look.

Thanks, guys. I've had the Tele for a few weeks now and the satin finish is actually appealing to me now. I like the "mellowness" of the finish. I'm going to leave it as is. Awesome guitar by the way. The neck is near perfect for me. The big frets feel fantastic. I did have to replace the socket with an Electrosocket because the inner plate was installed too close to the outer edge, leaving the socket flopping a bit. Not a big deal. And now I have the special tool to extract that piece from the guitar, so I may as well make the change on my Squier Classic Vibe Tele as well.

I posted a reply to you in the other thread but it just depends on the angle, it definitely isnt pink it's more like a blonde cream color

Thanks DBR 2026. I love the color. When I get her I think I'm going to put a black pickguard on.

I thought about the same thing for mine, a 3 ply (Black/White/Black) guard. WOuld probably look really sharp

I just got a HWY1 Tele in the Honey Blonde...I will be honest I love the matte finish..I am keeping it that way. For the Sunburst or the other colors I would definately buff them out...but IMO the matte looks fantastic for the Blondes..:)

I used carnuba paste wax and my Hwy 1 Tele shined up nicely.

I use the Meguire Fender 3 in 1 kit on everything but since they dont make it no more I use whats left sparingly as I very rarely polish my guitars and would just hit them with the Mist 80% of the time. Someone gave me a spray bottle of Winzer Reflections that sprays on and so far so good.

Straycat, from some of your posts that I`ve read I`m pretty sure we`re from the same area. Check Sam Ash On Flatbush Ave for that kit. I was just in there and I saw some polish kits but I` didn`t notice if any were Meguiars.

I have my Hwy 1 close to 2 weeks and at first I was thinking about buffing up the finish like some other people here. But after playing it I see its beginning to buff up on its own, especially where it sits on your leg and where your arm hangs over the top of it. As you play it more I would think more of the finish will come to a low gloss and you`ll probably wind up taking a buffing cloth to it to bring the rest of the guitar to that point.
