Welcome.

Here's two, "safe" alternatives:

For more of a vintage twang:

For more of a vintage snarl:

Hi Jack,

As Martian described above, there isn't just "one" vintage tone. Them old Teles could vary a lot from year to year (or even within the same year), so you could find some specimens that sound very bright and steely (like Buck Owens and Don Rich) and on the other hand, you have the mid-rangey, snarling thing (think Keith Richards, Jim Weider), and all in between.

So, what are you after?

By the way, I have a 60's Classic too, and I find the original bridge pickup really characteristic of the period it seeks to reissue - its very bright and steely, but I found it to be harsh when played loud on a clean "Fendery" tube amp, and kinda "uni-dimensional".

yes guess i could of been a tad more specific. While i find the current pu's satisfactory and all, i do occasionally find them a bit muddy for my taste. So probably lookin for a bit more twang in my case.

Try a set of DiMarzio Twang Kings.

I think the Duncan 54s would be a very good take, and they are very affordable too. Not familiar with Dimarzios.

Kinman. Pricey but really can't be beat by anything I have ever heard other than some of the Lollars.

I say go for the Broadcaster set. Unreal vintage tones.

If the guitar is new to you, maybe keep what's in it for a while.

I had one and my tutor thought it sounded really nice and he's got a better ear than me. It's the one guitar I wish I'd never sold... when a cheap one comes up I'll be grabbing it.
