If you could could you post a review after you've had it for a few days? Thanks.

Absolutely! I know there are many folks who want firsthand reports before pulling the trigger - and I understand that completely.

I buy from Music123 because they have excellent customer service and a lenient return policy. Plus, the Music123 warehouses are only a time zone away, so orders usually arrive in 2-3 days. If I decide that the guitar is not for me, then I'm only out the return shipping costs.

My hope is that this guitar IS what it looks to be.

Hey, this new VN Ash Tele looks alot like your avatar! :D

OK, guys, the UPS man just delivered my Fender Standard Vintage Noiseless Ash Tele!

My first impressions, out of the box, are: Wow!

I'll weigh the guitar later, but it's about as heavy as my American Strat. The neck has a beautiful, warm tint, the frets are perfect, the ash wood is visible under the beautiful butterscotch blonde finish, and yes, it does have the black, 3-ply pickguard.

The body finish is definitely more butterscotch than it is blonde. If you look at the pic in the banner of the TDPRI home page, this guitar is more toward the brown spectrum than toward the yellow spectrum. I post pics later.

I also want to plug it in and sound check the pickups AND I'm waiting for a reply e-mail from Fender regarding the specs on this beauty.

Stay tuned...

Well, guys, I snapped a few pics of my new Fender Standard Vintage Noiseless Ash Telecaster:

Fender Standard Vintage Noiseless Ash Tele

The neck is the same color tint as the headstock, so look at all the photos. Due to the flash, some neck shots appears pale when compared to the headstock.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I hope to plug in this afternoon - plus, I'll try to get a weight estimate for you.

Enjoy!

OK, guys, here's my first review on this new Tele.

Well, first of all, I still love this guitar.

The guitar weighs in at 8.2 pounds.

The factory setup was almost spot on with the Fender specs, including the intonation, right out of the box. I swapped out the 9's for a full set of D'Addario EXL110's, so I did a full setup on it. This gave me a chance to check all the screws, knobs, switches and other hardware. All was as it was supposed to be, although I did adjust the tone knob a bit closer to the control plate, to match the volume knob. Even the plastic came off the pickguard with minimal hassle.

I then plugged into my BJr and ran through all the pickup settings, tweaking the volume and tone knobs at each setting. Each setting has a a distinct sound. The bridge position has the signature Tele jangle, the neck/bridge position sounds almost Strat-like and would sound really good for rhythm parts. The neck position sounds very warm and creamy, ideal for the blues.

There are a lot of sounds available here, especially when you tweak the knobs.

The one pleasant surprise, for me, was that it didn't have that shrill, noisy upper end. The upper end is there, but it's very musical and melodic. The p'ups are a tad hotter than the stock Tele p'ups, but they're also warmer and smoother, IMHO. Overall, the sound is warmer than a standard Tele.

After playing awhile, I set her down in the stand and admired her chassis. The butterscotch blonde body with black pickguard and maple neck are a stunning combination. It's a real beauty in person.

I think I'm going to keep her. :-)

I'm stuck between a Deluxe Ash 2 tone and a Deluxe Alder 3 tone but wanted to hear some discussions on the differences, primarily just the pups, with the cheaper Standard as I am also pretty sweet on this one with a tortoise pickguard added which would IMO really bring the rose neck and the natural ash together nicely.

I generally do a side by side with them under such circumstances to make up my mind but have yet to be into my local GC when they have both at the same time. Just my luck . . .

Generally, when you create something "noiseless" or even just "noise reduced" you are detracting from frequency response in order to do so. Nice to hear the noiseless pups are generally getting good vibe here.

Thanks for the review. I've always wanted a tele in butterscotch blonde but I could never afford the ones that have been released in the past. That being said I always wanted a tele in surf green as well and when I saw the FSR release of one that was coming out in Nov I was planing on getting that. Then that guitar went awol and now is back on MF (at least) so I'm stuck between the two of them :x :x :x I wish I could get both but I can't so it's going to be a tough choice if and when I decide to get one.
