The Standard Telecaster I just ordered has the standard classic single-coil pickups.

I have a Squire (Affinity) Tele in butterscotch, what if I were to put the noiseless in the Affinity and other (?) pups in this special edition Telecaster that has the noiseless?

Now, why are the noiseless not good?????

Looks like the main differences are the pups and the finish (color)? The neck is the same... as is the tuners, bridge, maybe the logo is different? This is odd or is it. Looks like the $149 difference is for the color?

I'll stay with the Standard in white and mod my Squire Affinity (butterscotch)

Unless, someone shows me some upgrade the special edition has that makes it worth it.

Noiseless pickups are not as raw as standard wound vintage style pickups. There is a huge frequency difference between noiseless and regular pickups.

They do not produce the same treble / midrange.

They sound pretty raw on my AmDeluxe Tele :)

The butterscotch with black or white pickguar is just such a super sweet look. The darker the butter the better, i like when you cant see the wood grain personally. I'd pay the extra if it was me

Okay, I went with the Hwy One Tele Honey Blonde. I hope this one does it for me.

Really? According to the specs on the current line-up of Fender Tele p'ups, the only single coils that are hotter than the Vintage Noiseless are the SCN p'ups.

In order of most hot to least hot:

SCN
Vintage Noiseless
Original Vintage

I think what Nevin1985 was referring to was not, in fact, the pickups' "hotness." Vintage Noiseless have a reputation for sounding dead -- or, at the very least, not as lively as the originals. I can't say one way or the other simply because I haven't played the VN pups very much at all. Play them both and decide for yourself?

Hmmm... Can't see how a hot p'up would sound dead. Sterile, perhaps?

That's the problem with discussions of this nature; everyone "hears" differently and dwells within his own paradigms.

You offer great advice, though: Play them both and decide for yourself.

Looks nice. Needs vintage style tuners, spaghetti logo and ashtray style bridge w/ optional cover.
I'm way too traditional when it comes to telecasters. Leo had it right the first time around. Can't fix something that ain't broke, as they say.
are these american made?
