Hey guys - I'm thinking about buying one. Any comments on them as players instruments. I'd also likely swap out the pickup: for those who've done this already, what did you use and what other mods did you make?

Cheers.

It's an amazing, well-crafted instrument. I owned the metallic silver GT from 2004 to 2008.

If you play Rock, Punk or Metal, I wouldn't change the pickup at all. I've played/tested several pickups in different guitars (Gibson Dirty Fingers, DiMarzio Breed & X2N, Duncan JB) and the Duncan Invader is my favorite for a thick and aggressive rock sound next to the Breed.
It is has a strong focus on the mids and little highs. It's got that certain "gnarl" (that I haven't heard in any other pickup yet), which might or might not be your kinda thing.

Anyway, back then I sold that guitar as I was short on bucks and had just gotten a new upper range Ibanez.

As time passed by, I kinda missed it though. Plus, I always wanted to get the crimson red model, which hadn't shown up on eBay for quite a long time. Just out of curiosity I typed it in on eBay a few days ago, and there it was, a crimson red model in pretty good condition! It was a no-brainer, I just had to have it.

It's a very neat guitar. Good luck in finding one!
