I just want to see if I am a strange guy or what the deal is. I always played Strats...I always loved Teles, but never had one. My wife bought me one and I can't put that guitar down...I find that it is the guitar I love playing more than any other I have ever touched in my life. Is this the same for everyone else??

I don't know if it's just you but I've played strats most of my life and when I purchased a tele this past year the same thing happened to me. It's got to be just the new experience. Or does it?

I've been on a major Tele kick lately as well, but I do that a lot, gravitate to one guitar or another for weeks at a time. I just refurbished my old tele and it was like an old friend come to life :D

I found the smaller neck made it more fun to play. Telecasters have an appealing shape and it is A GREAT SOLID MADE MACHINE.

There is just something about a Tele. To me it is a more primitive, "raw", from your gut, type of guitar. I associate the Tele more with the type of music I like and the musicians that play them. The Tele is a workin' man.

You can take a Strat and "dress" it up for town and it handles it just fine. A Tele is a workhorse. It's not fancy, and if you dress it up it looks uncomfortable in its fancy threads. It just puts its head down, it’s shoulder into the music, and gets it done. Strong. Tough. Basic.

I had the same experience coming from a Les Paul to the Tele... oh the simplicity, the purity, the FEEL, of the Tele!

Now I've gone from the Tele to the Strat... ooooh the tone, the bla bla bla. Still have a couple of Tele's though.

Maybe it's just nice to have a change once in a while... but I can't see any further than the Tele and the Strat. (Uh oh, ES335 maybe.)

You can count me in!

Played a strat for 4 years before getting my first Tele, but never really considered myself a "strat-player". I had been GASing for a Tele since after 6 months I started playing. Felt like home when I finally had mine in my hands.

It's definitely not just you. I too am addicted to my Telecaster. I have other guitars but more often than not i find myself reaching for the Tele. No other guitar soothes and consoles my quite like the Tele does.

My Tele has become my main guitar. Why? I don't know it just did.

The Tele is way more forgiving than the Strat. If you mess up a bit on a Tele it will cover for you, mess up on a Strat and EVERYONE know s about it.
I think it's that the Tele is really a primitive workhorse and the Strat is more of a tempermental thoroughbred. I own both and love them both.
