If you want a "proper sized" humbucker then you'll need to change the bridge. Or chop up the one you have.

Otherwise there are plenty of single coil sized humbuckers around such as Seymour Duncan Hotrails or Lil '59 which are specifically designed for the Tele. Then you'd just need to remove the bridge and swap out the pickup. Or give it to a guitar tech to do the job.

Cheers.

Yeah you have to change the bridge. Idk if you can even modify a single coil bridge. You will also have to route the guitar. Can be done tho.

I would say just forget the bridge pickup and swap out the neck pickup with one! MUCH less of a hassle.

Look up "stacked Tele humbucker pickup" on ebay and buy the pickup sold by ebay seller "indyebooks". I purchased a stacked humbucker from him and love it!!! It also allowed me to retain my current bridge and saddles. He'll also supply you a wiring diagram for your intended application, ie. coil split/coil tapping. "indyebooks" is Tim Switke and he's a great guy snd both pickups I bought from him have served me quite well.
