My bandmate had a Parsons/White B-Bender Tele for awhile, and I used it for a few rehearsals. It was, to say the least, not the most impressive guitar I've ever played. While the thing sounded pretty good, I found the technique needed to operate the bender was difficult to learn initially and, more importantly, that it was a boat anchor. That Tele weighed as much as a Les Paul.

If you want one though, the P/W Bender is a classic and should serve your needs. Just understand that it's not feasible to use sitting down and that it takes time to get used to.

I've got a Classic Series '60s with a Bigsby. I use it mostly for surf music, although it isn't really a surf guitar. It stays in tune fairly well, as I'm not too heavy handed when I use the Bigsby.

It's a very nice sounding guitar, unique, and probably the best looking Tele I own. (Candy Apple Red, white bound body, Rosewood neck.) It's not my #1 (my Deluxe Nashville has that position), but I'm sure glad I have it in my Tele line up.

I just got an American Nashville B Bender and I love it. If you have never played one and you pick it up for the first time, you might not like it. It does feel awkward. You get over that in a few hours and then you're in bender heaven going crazy with different ways to get cool sounds going.
It's fun. It would be really easy to want to over use it and annoy the $@!& out everyone and not even care.
The only thing I would complain about is the weight of the guitar (which isn't too bad) pulls the bender up a little, but I hear you can take off the back plate and adjust the tension. I haven't tried it yet, but I am only about 5 hours in.
The other thing that is a blessing and a curse.. there is a Texas Special Strat PU in the middle. It's great for extra tone options and sound good to me, but I use a pick and fingers and my fingernails are always hitting that middle PU. I guess I'll get used to it.
I dig this guitar. It is my first Tele. I play straight into an Axe FX Ultra out to 2 QSC HPR122i speakers. Amazing tone with this set up.
By the way I have to disagree with the "Gimmick" comment. Are pedals on a pedal steel or a piano a gimmick? How about electricity and amplification?
This is my first post here and I just wanted to give a review. If anyone is thinking about getting one, do it, you won't be disappointed....unless you break your B string 20 minutes in like I did.

Welcome to the Forum and the world of the Tele - I think you started off with a great one! Thanks for the review - I'm thinking serious about adding one to my Tele line-up. Glad to hear you like yours!

Rick

Thanks RickyD Its really is addicting. By the way, I got mine from SAdirect for 1100 out the door no tax new in the box. I know these were selling for 1600 or something close to that.

Here's a cool video with Gene Parsons talking about inventing the B Bender for Clarence White. He had to tell Clarence to stop using it so much and to add it to his style, not change it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIilq3JdCT4
