Take a look at the Fender decal on the headstock on this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0163398991

The logo looks odd to me – like a badly applied aftermarket transfer – but is that the way they come? The one on the reverse of the headstock looks okay.

This guitar was listed with a starting price of 99p, which I thought was odd for a £1700.00 guitar. I asked the seller a polite question about the decal – not insinuating it was fake – and he sent a really arrogant ... "stop waisting [his spelling] my time" reply.

While it DOES seem like a slightly odd sounding ebay listing, have a look at this: http://www.fender.com/customshop/instru ... 9232000177

Click on the pic to enlarge and you'll see the logo decal looks the same. I guess it's part of the relic look although I am definately no expert on these matters.

Cheers.

Remember the old adage...

"if it looks too good to be true, it probably is"

Yeah – the listing isn't what you'd expect of someone selling a nice guitar like that. Having looked closely at the one on the Fender site it's the same.

I was kinda hoping it was fake 'cos the guy was such an unhelpful and arrogant shyster!

Quite often (at least here in australia on ebay) you'll see a REALLY expensive guitar or amp with a ridiculously low starting price which then sells for pretty much what it's worth. You'd expect to at least see CLEAR photos of the guitar though...

So... You gonna bid on it?

The guy told me to go and buy a book on Fender guitars and stop waisting [sp] his time... so I told him he was an arrogant shyster and to go out and buy a dictionary. So, erm, probably not... :D

I don't see anything wrong with the decal as far as the picture goes. They apply the decal over the nitro on those models (like they did in the 50's and 60's) and the guitar is a relic, that's why it looks a bit darker on that spot. I also wouldn't buy from that a$$h¨&*
