Hey all...

Came across a tele deluxe neck i think I'm going to buy for a project and noticed that the bolt on end has 5 holes. The deluxe has the cut-away where the neck bolts on so the screws don't line up as they would with a standard, but also has a hole pre-drilled in the usual place (four corners). Is this a standard procedure by fender to have 5 holes pre-drilled when the necks are crafted?

Cheers.

I don't know whether this will help, but here's a picture of my Tele Deluxe's neck plate:

As you can see, it is a 3-bolt arrangement instead of the usual 4-bolt configuration. I don't know whether this accounts for what you're seeing or not. They might grab a Strat neck that's already drilled with four holes and add the middle hole for the third bolt on the Tele Deluxe. Anyway, I hope this helps! 8)

The original poster is asking about an American Deluxe neck - it's the one with abalone inlays and the chrome-looking Fender logo.

The picture in the second post is a '72 Deluxe reissue. Different guitars, different bolt patterns.

I don't have an answer for the original poster but didn't want him to be confused by a 3-bolt neck on a '72 Deluxe reissue.

The MIA Deluxe Tele should look like this one. Look at back pic.

Uh...okay.

Is he asking about a "Telecaster Deluxe" or a "Deluxe Telecaster"?

Sorry if I caused confusion.
