There really are too many real problems to consider. If playing a guitar is suppose to be fun then why have a heartattack. Folks will always try to make whatever they have seem to be the very best. It is OK for them to think that of their stuff it's their stuff. Whether you chose to agree is up to you and is your opinion . Let it be just that , we all have one just as some things are all pink or others having different sizes and shapes. It makes us individuals and thats what life is all about . Most of you seem mature enough to LET IT BE but there are probably a few who just cannot LET IT GO...

Music is in the man...Be proud of whatever instrument you play as long as your playing.

I have a 1989 MIJ Squier Tele that sounds great to my ears after a pickup upgrade...but the neck has always been IT for me. Different guitars for different players' needs.

i traded mine in for my Hwy 1 and I was deadset on keeping it forever since it was my first electric, but I had to let her go. I've been back to the guitar center to visit her once a week though since I traded her in. She's still a sweet girl, they haven't been able to sell her because I kept her in such good condition and they are asking almost brand new prices for her ($499).

I have a MIA '62 ReIssue Strat that I have modded and tweaked (Vintage Vibe SP90 pickups, aged moto pickguard, blocked tremolo, and a "secret weapon" push-pull pot that turns on the bridge pickup no matter where the selector switch is set) to my (personal) taste, and it is just a spectacular guitar...it's the only guitar I have ever bought new, and it will stay "in the family" unless the wife and kid are starving to death. It's a gorgeous Fiesta Red tone machine.

...but I also have a see-thru-(white-not-butterscotch)-blond mid-90s MIM Telecaster. It has the vintage 50s logo and styling, but it has six saddles--on a bridge that can accept a Tele "ashtray". It's heavy (assume the body is some sort of swamp ash, due to the grain, but I don't know for sure). It also originally had a coil-tapped humbucker in the neck position with a 5-way switch. I have only seen two others like this one, (one black and the other blonde like mine), so I don't know what the orginal model or run was called (if anybody can help me here, I would appreciate it!).

It sounded great from the first moment I bought it at Competition Music in the east side of Fort Worth...but I removed the HB from the neck, and after a few "experiments," including turning it into an Esquire, I ended up putting a P90 in the neck, adding a 4-way switch and a Fender "No-Load" tone pot...it looks, as my wife puts it, "pretty-but-plain" but it sounds like a million bucks.

The whole point is, both of the axes get equal billing on-stage and in the studio, depending on the sound/tone/vibe I'm shooting for...

...and I couldn't care less where each of them were made; sentimentally and financially, the Strat is worth more, but if I had to choose which on was going to go on a world tour with me, I don't know which one I would choose.

Get what you can afford, and play the crap out of it...mod it if you want to, and don't take any lip off of anybody who looks down their nose at your axe!
