Adey,
Yeah I know that gap is ugly. It blends in a lot better with the tort guard, but it is still there. I have another Tort pickguard that is all messed up and I may cut a small strip for that gap, it is barely more than 1/8" wide so it's hard to cut such a small piece. I was also thinking of putting a small sliver of wood and trying to match the body color.

At some point in the future I'd like to get a 22 fret neck with jumbo frets which would solve the issue as well.

Thanks again for all who complimented. This thing plays great, I will get a video on here in the next few days for those who want to hear it. I also just ordered locking tuning machines for it and I forgot to shield the pick-guard so I'll do that when I install the tuners.

thanks

Nice work, I always wondered what the "Floodcaster" from your signature looked like. MY next guitar is going to be a Tele that I build myself so hopefully mine turns out as nicely as this one did! Congrats!

Thanks for the compliment mmrats. I used the set of Wilkinson from stewmac that were suggested by CERI. Here is the link ...

According to my electronic tuner, I was able to get perfect intonation for each string. The amount of compensation is adjustable so you can fine tune the intonation. A little pricey but worth it in my opinion.

Thanks dbr, I did finally cut a piece of pickguard to fill the gap at the base of the neck... I'll post a pic when I get home from work.

By the way, I did end up putting and ohm meter on the original electronics and while the pots / switch were shot, the pickups seemed okay. I may re-mount the original humbucker and bridge pickup in this thing. They had great tone and at worst case I could always put the replacement set back in if I ran into a problem. I guess I need to order a pickguard routed for a neck humbucker :) ...
