for parts thats where I go:

www.guitarpartsresource.com

either them or Ebay. There's a seller (not Angela) who's got a good variety of original Fender parts for cheap.

Pots are CTS. For tuners, if I wanna keep the vintage style I'd go for Kluson-style Gotohs, or Wilkinson Deluxe (cheaper).

Pickups: your favorite flavor of Duncans, Fralins, Lollars...there are lots of good makers out there. I would also suggest the not so known Klein, Budz and Rumpelstiltskin (spelling? hehe search for "rumpel pickups" in Google).

I like that smooth, even grain on the wood. I have no idea either, just curious.

Hi all,

I procured electronics and a neck for the Tele project. I hope you don't mind a few pictures. I'm pretty happy with how this is turning out.

I got a neck off of a 2000 MIM standard, and the electronics as well. I put a white pick-guard on just to hold the neck pickup. I have a red tortoise pick-guard and compensated saddles on order and I am dying to get them so that I can string this baby up and get to playing. The guitar feels very solid with the neck and it actually looks pretty nice with the white pick-guard. I also tried to keep as many original parts as possible. I put the original strap buttons and ferrules back on. Unfortunately I was not able to use the original control mount as the pots were a little too large for the holes, ditto for the tuning machines.

I plugged in the git to give the pickups the screwdriver test and everything seems to be in order. Oh well enough of my blather onto the pics.

Kong, the Floodcaster is a beauty! I would keep the white pickguard. But what about that gap between the guard and the end of the neck? Will the new guard cover it?

Thanks Iago,

I'm going to have to fill that gap somehow. The original neck had 22 frets. I'm going to either cut a piece of wood or pick-guard material to fill that hole. Unless anyone has other helpful suggestions.

I am also thinking of putting a picture on the white pick-guard and then covering it with a clear guard. Here is the pic... it is from the flood from the next town over and I just like the pic.

Kong,
Remember the girl's father in the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding ?
He was always running around with a spray bottle of Windex
The "Floodcaster" needs a decal with it's name under the picture on the pick-guard. Nice work and a special guitar.

Enjoy,
John.E

All finished. Got the saddles and strung her up today. I'm pretty happy with it. I'll try and post a video so you can hear it.

Thanks Ceri for the suggestion on the saddles. I got the premium adjustable ones and they look great and the guitar has some nice tone.

Here's a couple of pics of the finished product. Ooh I hit my 100th post with this one :D ... kind of a cool symmetry.

Hey Kong!

I'm really impressed - you've done a great job in bringing your Tele back to life - she looks sweet! Fun thread and great pic's - thanks!

Looks great with the Tort scratchplate, but you've still got that gap to fill.

If it was mine I'd put an engraved metal badge there - perhaps with your name. Or maybe TeleKong or some such..
