hello everybody! i signed up here because i still haven't found out what tele i have bought a few days ago from a friend.

it has the bridge of an american but the knob layout is like the 69 thinline

there is nothing on the headstock except the logo

all i know is that he refinished it and put Duncan Quarter Pounder pickups in it.

Not sure, but looks like a partscaster:

refinished 69 body, different tuners, string ferrules were taken off, maybe the decal on the neck is not original, I find the 69 style neck with no walnut plug strange...probably it´s not the original neck...but what do I know?

Looks like a modded '69 thinline to me.

No visible serial number... Strange...

The decal on the heal seems to have been moved from the backside of the head where you see a mark where the finish have not tinted.

It seem to have a set (at least the bridge) of Seymour Duncan quarter pounder pickups with the slightly bigger bridge pup pole pieces.

The tuners is probably replaced as is the nut which is a compensated nut.

It look legit, but the lack of serial number makes me wonder... :?

I don't think that's a Fender neck.

Compare it to this one. Notice no walnut plug at the top of the headstock and notice the curve of the headstock between the nut and the low E string tuner.

http://www.fender.com/products/prod_ima ... 306_xl.jpg

That gap between the neck and the pickguard looks a little strange to me too.

And, as GoranS mentioned there's no serial number and the 50th badge is in the wrong place.

There's also no country of origin on that guitar. A MIM '69 Thinline Reissue would say Made In Mexico on the back of the headstock and there would be a MNXxxxxx serial number there too.

My guess: aftermarket neck with a Fender decal, Fender, Squier, or aftermarket body.

I think both of you are correct. Good work George!

Not necessarily a bad thing being a partsocaster. Made a couple myself. But I always document the parts, keep recites and if buying necks or bodies from the bay I also print out (or do a pdf) of the ad showing my nick as a winner.

If I were to buy a partsocaster I would request similar documentation or else I would walk away.

Looks to me to be a partscaster as well.
The thing I noticed (and I correct me if I'm wrong) is the neck looks like it's not all the way back in the pocket. That is from there looks to be a little bit of a gap.

One other thing you could do is go to www.tdpri.com and ask there there is bound to be someone who could tell you what you have.
