I am hoping someone can help me identify what type and year it is. I know it is a Japanese telecaster. The serial # is E824207. Some modifications have been made to it. The original butterfly string trees have been replaced by two vintage round string trees and the neck plate and screws have been swapped from a F plate with phillips head screws to a blank plate with flat heat screws. the inside of the body says CTL-50. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks here is the link to the photos

You are correct as it is made in Japan. The year was between 1984-1987.

Looks pretty fine :)

The CTL-50 is the name of the model itself. As you can see, it´s an early 70´s reissue. Nice looking ash there too. The 2nd string-tree may have been added later.

The "50" also means this guitar costed 50.000,00 yen back then.

Checking this catalog picture, the CTL-50 appears as a Squier model in 1983. Maybe later they made it as Fender model? That deserves some further investigation :P
