I'm thinking about replacing my stock 3 saddle bridge with a 6 saddle. I'm looking at this one on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370264258965&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT, but it only mentions it working on American tele's.

Will it work on my MIM '69 thinline reissue?

Thanks :D

It probably will work but to make 100% sure you need the mounting hole dimensions and saddle width spacing. Compare the dims to your stock bridge.

Fender has two drilling patterns for Telecasters.

American Series, American Standard, and American Deluxe Teles have the "modern" style bridge - six saddles of course, but more importantly (if you're switching bridges) the drilling pattern is what you need to look at.

These American Teles have six holes in the body and in the bridge for the strings to go through. There are also THREE holes used to mount the bridge to the body. These THREE holes are between the six string holes and the end or bottom of the body.

Most other Tele has the body drilled in the "vintage" way. These Teles can have six-saddle modern-style bridges, like the MIM Standard Telecaster, or six-saddle vintage-style, like the MIM Nashville Deluxe Telecaster, (not the Nashville POWER Tele, that's a unique bridge and let's not even go there), or the three-saddle vintage bridge like you see on the vintage reiussues.

The vintage drilling pattern still has the six string holes, of course, but the bridge is mounted to the body with FOUR screws, so there are FOUR holes in the body and the bridge and these FOUR holes are between the six string holes and the neck, not behind the string holes like on the modern American Teles.

So, if you want a modern style six-saddle bridge that will fit your MIM '69 Thinline, you want a bridge from a MIM Standard Telecaster. I think Gotoh also makes one that will work and you can probably find it at www.stewmac.com.
