I bought a American Vintage 52 RI for 800$ at Sam Ash (there were a couple unnoticable scratches on the back that dropped the price) but even after 2 years I still cant seem to get used to the 7.25 radius neck when it comes to bending and worse, I cant get use to the gummy, tacky feel of the maple fretboard. My complaints are even worse when I compare it to my ebony fretboard on my Les Paul custom.

What are any of your thoughts on me buying a Warmoth rosewood neck to swap it out with? Any preference on what type of rosewood (brazillian or indian). Am I crazy for thinking about doing this? How about an ebony board on a tele? What kind of wood should I get to put under the rosewood fretboard.

I think it's a crazy idea to swap necks. The 7.25" radius does take some getting used to, but is it possible that your LP just feels more comfortable? My solution would be to put the LP away for awhile and play the Tele as much as you can: you will get used to it.

As far as describing the maple neck as "tacky," I'm not sure I'm familiar with your complaint. I love maple-necked guitars, and have never encountered a sticky or tacky fingerboard. To put a rosewood neck on that guitar would be sacrilegious. Telecasters are meant, in my humblest of opinions, to have maple necks.

Good luck dude.

Go for it. If neck issues are making you reluctant to play it after 2 years, try a neck swap. Any type of rosewood is fine.

Here's some thoughts you may be familar with: Double check the size of the neck opening on the body to make sure your new neck butt will fit. If you go with a new neck, you should have some experience with setting up a new neck on a Fender - you gotta adjust the angle (on a vintage that means sanding or shimming), adjust the action, the intonation (and if it comes without a nut, that needs to be setup too). Or you could have a shop set it up for you.

Definitely make it yours. If you go for it, good luck and let us see some pics.

You're talking about the back of the neck being sticky, right?

I've heard rubbing lightly with 0000 steel wool gets rid of the problem and makes it feel like a satin neck.

Not sure about doing that with a lacquer finish, though.

dont do it! the 52 tele is supposed to be played on that neck!
I have an American Vintage 57 RI strat which has basically that same lacquer on the the neck. I know what you mean by gummy and sticky. i play my 57' strat more than any of the others that i have, now I'm so used to it that its normal and i kinda actually like the feel of it, the neck was one thing that actually drew me to that guitar. before i bought the 57 RI i was deciding between the 52 tele and the 57 strat, both were rlli different but both sounded amazing im more of a pop rock punk kinda guy and the 52' tele didnt really do that for me as much

Its YOUR guitar, do whatever YOU feel is necessary to maximize your enjoyment of it.

I'd venture to guess that there are many players out there who'd love to get their hands on that neck. You'd probably find someone rather easily to trade Tele necks with or who'd outright buy your's, thereby offsetting the expense of buying a new one from Warmoth. This is, unless of course, you want to hang onto the original neck.
