Quarter Pounder in the neck position. A worthwhile upgrade over stock?

Cheers.

That's a big, fat sounding pickup my friend. It's loud too. Is it an upgrade? That depends on what your are going for. What don't you like about the stock pup in the guitar now? Post and will try to help!

Stock neck pup just sounds too weak compared to bridge. Saw a 1/4 punder on ebay going really cheap but is gone now anyway so doesn't matter.

Just want something that doesn't sound too "muddy". Individual notes on neck pup sound fine but chords just sound really dull.

Cheers.

Jason Lollar makes a great pickup as well as Duncan. A Lollar Srecial T neck model would probably be great. If you really want to get nuts then check out Barden pickups. I love them because they are loud and very clear as well as hum cancelling.

Did you try adjusting the heights of the pickups? Raise up the neck pu and maybe drop down the bridge pu to even them out.

I've played around with the heights and to be totally honest it doesn't sound too bad. I guess I'm probably just in one of those moods where I'm just looking for an excuse to modify?

Cheers guys.

I just dropped a 1/4 pounder and a BG1400 in my Tele. Absolutely love it, but it isn't a twang-type setup to be sure.

I've got 1/4 pounders in the neck and bridge positions and I love them. Much more power than the stock pickups and I can still "twang" when I want to.

The bridge pickup in a Tele is meant to be stronger (see specs on 52 and reissues). I didn't "get" this for quite awhile...and attempts to balance things are a bit misguided, IMO. Vintage pickup with more than 9000 windings in the bridge were really hot...and the neck? Even with mod wiring...more "jazzy"

The changes you've made correspond to what you are looking for which is great...and that's a different story....and to be respected.
